Abstract:
Ulcers of the oral cavity, esophagus, and gastric compartments of South American camelids are uncommon. Multifocal-to-coalescing ulcers were identified in the oral cavity, esophagus, and/or gastric compartments of 5 alpacas submitted for postmortem examination. Fusobacterium necrophorum was isolated from the lesions in all alpacas, in combination with other aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. In 4 of these cases, F. necrophorum?associated lesions were considered secondary to neoplasia or other chronic debilitating conditions; in 1 case, the alimentary ulcers were considered the most significant autopsy finding. It is not known if this agent acted as a primary or opportunistic agent in mucosal membranes previously damaged by a traumatic event, chemical insult, immunodeficiency, or any other debilitating condition of the host |

El INIA ha venido realizando acciones, tanto internas como externas, tendientes a generar información y a realizar aportes para el manejo sanitario forestal. Las acciones internas se pueden agrupar en dos etapas, una que va desde el inicio del Programa Forestal hasta el año 2002 y otra desde dicho año hasta el presente. Algunos de los resultados obtenidos en los proyectos de investigación desarrollados por INIA se describen en el punto II de este artículo. Si bien dichas acciones continúan, el INIA ha considerado que el status sanitario es un tema prioritario para la sustentabilidad productiva del sector, por lo que aprobó un proyecto de investigación en protección forestal. Los objetivos y los resultados esperados de dicho proyecto, se describen en el punto III. Finalmente, en el punto IV, se describen las acciones externas, es decir aquellas en las que INIA participa o apoya a otras instituciones. |
